Landlords - Setting landlord ownership share

Updated over 7 months ago

When a property is owned by more than one landlord, you can set their ownership share.

The first process allows the percentage of ownership to show on the landlord's statement (for tax purposes).

The second process details how to instruct a split payment to each landlord in accordance with their percentage of ownership.

1. Change Ownership Split to Show on Statements (for tax purposes):

  1. Make sure that the owners are linked to the property

  2. Go to Owners > Property-landlord links

  3. Search for the landlord or linked property

  4. Click on the amount in the Percentage ownership column to change the value

  5. Click OK

This will allow the ownership share to show on the landlord's statement.

2. Change Ownership Payment Split (For Payments Instructed to the BACS Schedule)

  1. Go to Lettings Properties > View Properties

  2. Click the pencil icon against the property in question to edit it

  3. Click on the Finance tab

  4. Enter the bank details of each landlord

  5. Enter the percentage of ownership which each landlord possesses

  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Update Property

Note: The percentage of share per landlord cannot go beyond one decimal place ie. a share can be set to 33.3% but not 33.33%, and so on

The percentages entered must total 100%
